Color Inspiration Thursday {53}

July! With the 4th of July holiday upon us, I thought I’d try my hand at some patriotic color palettes. While the poppy reads a bit more orange than red, the combination of poppies with blueberries in a pristine white dish evoke a backyard patriotism. Since we plan to celebrate the holiday with a backyard barbecue, it seems fitting. Admittedly, blueberries are not yet ripe, so the blueberry photo is a repost from last August. It’s a tried and true blue–enjoy!

Color palettes are created using Play Crafts’ Palette Builder 2.1 and my photographs. Matching Kona cotton solids, Moda Bella solids and Aurifil thread is a perk provided by the Palette Builder.

  1. I just love poppies, and I especially enjoy seeing close up pics with all those pretty little “feathers” on the inside. I am happy to say that a yummy cookout with family is on the agenda for this year – Happy 4th!

  2. Happy 4th of July – we had Canada on July 1st which was great – we had super weather. I love these holidays – they are just fun. Poppies are gorgeous – not only do I love the colour, but I like the ruffled crepe paper texture. Tomorrow I am doing the Mud Run at Martock – I must be crazy – but I figure it will be a mud walk as I try to clamber up the obstacles. This may be a timed event but I just want to survive, I will send you a picture.
