tea tissues honey sick

Tea, Tissue, Sleep, Repeat.

It’s been quiet here, and sadly I can’t even say it’s because I’ve been sewing up a storm. I’ve somehow caught a mean summer sickness that has knocked me down for the count. I’m going on 5 days of this crud and it’s slowly tapering off (I think… I hope), but my energy is still drained. My days have consisted of tea, tissues, sleep when possible (being a mom with 3 kiddos means no sick days for me), getting to necessary appointments with brief playground visits as a reward for my kids’ help, and a *tiny* bit of EPP.

tea tissues honey sickI just wanted to pop in here to let you all know that I haven’t run off into the sunset, nor will have have a bevy of beautiful quilts to show you when I return. But I’m here. And I’ll return. One day, hopefully sooner than later.

Back to my tissues and tea, and another movie day for the kids. At least they don’t seem to mind my sickness, and the weather has been as cruddy as I feel. And so it goes. Happy stitching to you!

    1. Thank you, Yvonne. My fav tea when I’m sick is organic chamomile & mint, or just fresh squeezed lemon juice in boiling water with honey. I used to love lemon tea and then I started reading about what ends up in many conventional teas. I’m kind of a local/organic nut these days. Although thinking about all this just reminded me of a drink I make in the winter a lot, with fresh turmeric, ginger, lemon juice, and black cracked pepper. I might have to send Gare to the store for fresh ginger & turmeric so that I can make some!

  1. I got hit with some nasty sickness last week! I wasn’t able to call off work so I had to suffer through 4 days of work before finally getting to the doctor. It was awful, but the medicine definitely helped. And the fact that I slept for about 24 hours in 2 days might have something to do with it. 😉 Sending good health vibes your way, hope you get better soon!

  3. Awww, but you are not alone. My daughter and 4 yr old grandson have a summer virus, also. I hope it’s waning, and quickly, for all of you!

  5. How miserable Kitty – summer colds are awful. And frankly having three children run you down – you are always working on empty but still doing all sorts of activities. And no sick days. Only once did I phone Ian and tell him he had to get home. I was throwing up and I just couldn’t safely watch the kids and toss my cookies at the same time. And frankly young ones are germ producing machines….

  6. I have been thinking of you and hoping you are feeling better. It’s so hard to be sick with little kids. May September bring clear germ-free air your way ~
