Sponsor Introduction {& Giveaway}: Fiddlehead Artisan Supply

I’m thrilled to introduce you to my very first sponsor, my local quilt shop located in Belfast, Maine–Fiddlehead Artisan Supply. Fiddlehead Artisan Supply is a family-owned sewing, quilting, and craft-supply shop in beautiful midcoast Maine. In addition to a great selection of modern quilting cottons, patterns, thread, and notions, Fiddlehead offers a wide range of other craft supplies all within one of the most aesthetically pleasing shops I’ve visited. It’s a haven for makers. Just for my readers, Fiddlehead is offering 15% off anything in their online shop with the code nightquilter15%.

To kick-off our partnership, Abby at Fiddlehead invited me to curate a bundle of low volume fabrics, AND is offering a bundle as a giveaway to one of my readers. I love low volume fabrics, since they are so versatile in quilting and just about anything. There’s nothing like a scrappy low volume background to help colors pop.

This bundle of eight (8) fat quarters includes (clockwise from top):

– XOXO Cotton + Steel basics by Rashida Coleman Hale
– Dotti’s Cousin in Natural, Mochi by Rashida Coleman Hale for Cotton + Steel
– Prisma in Honeycomb, Minimalista by Art Gallery Fabrics
– Hello Bear by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics
– Cotton + Steel basics by Alexia Marcelle Abegg
– Passport Parchment Paris Map by 3 Sisters for Moda
– Music in Neutral by Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements
– Passport Charcoal Etchings by 3 Sisters for Moda

Just for fun, and since I have a baby shower to attend this weekend, I decided to whip up a quick project using this bundle. I made a one hour basket (free pattern by Kelby Sews) using the fabrics from this bundle and some scraps of Alison Glass’s Sun Prints Grove.

I love these low volumes!

The recipient of this basket hasn’t found out the gender of her baby, so I thought the sleek low volumes and pops of color were the perfect combination.

  1. What a wonderful first sponsors. How jealous I am of all of you to have quilting shops and little family owned businesses like that. We are much less fortunate here. Sewing (and quilting) don’t have the pull. The fabric is GORGEOUS!!! And the bag is adorable. Again, thanks for linking to a great free pattern!

  4. Congrats on the new sponsor! So exciting that it’s a local (to you) shop. I’ll be adding it to my itinerary when I next visit Maine. What I love about my LQS is that they know me… the Kona Lady… and are happy to see me… and not just because I’m shopping there!

  5. Love the way you combined the pops of color in your basket, I forget that those quick baskets are great gifts until the rest of the bloggers remind me! I just had that “wait a minute” moment cause I’m spending a weekend at Fiddlehead Campground in August and wasn’t sure if that was in your area of Maine, alas it is not (it’s Saco river Maine not Atlantic coast Maine.)

  6. Fiddlehead Artisan Supply is a great shop. Not very local to me, but I stop in whenever I am in the Belfast area. What I love about my local shop, Pinwheels Quilting in Skowhegan, ME, is the large classroom space. I enjoy quilting with others, and Quilt Therapy every Tuesday is a fun and creative way to spend the day with my quilting buddies.

  8. I think the best thing about local quilt shops is the level of customer service that you get (along with advice, instructions, suggestions!). Many thanks for the giveaway. I love getting new fabric sources!

  9. I’ve been collecting LV prints for a year now as I am going to make a LV quilt for my daughter’s guest room and one for me. Two queen sized quilts = a lot of prints. Your baskets are lovely. Regarding our LQS, we are very fortunate to have a very good one here that specializes in Modern Fabric. If you are ever in Duluth MN go visit Hannah Johnson Fabrics. You won’t be disappointed!

  10. Congratulations on new sponsor. The bundle you curated is gorgeous, and so is the delightful basket. What a great idea for a baby shower. The nearest quilt shop for me is about 40 miles away, so I don’t get there often, but what I like is all the samples they make – great inspiration! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

  11. Congrats on gaining your first sponsor. My local quilt shops all specialise in different areas, so we tend to frequent them all, depending on the project involved. Only one does quilt art supplies, another is the only shop to get in whole lines of co-ordinated fabric and pre-cuts, while another specialises in getting in bulk, cheap fabric. Then we have the option of driving just out into the country for a really great selection of cheap threads. So much quilty goodness.

  13. I hate my lqs. The staff are rude and patronising. My machine had a broken bobbin case and i took it in for repair. The woman behind the counter showed me the tension wheel and explained i have to turn it to even out my tension!

  15. That basket is perfect! Glad we brushed up on our One Hour Basket skills together at what is now my new favorite LQS. Loved the fabrics, but especially all the awesome inspiration hung around the shop – so many beautiful, creative, modern quilts and projects.

  16. How exciting Kitty! Congratulations and way to go on picking a great sponsor! You curated a terrific low volume bundle too. Let’s see,,, I love our local Pine Grove Quilt Shop because the people who work there are so friendly and interested in everything their customers are making. They have a great selection of fabrics too and even carry Aurifil thread.

  18. We have a very small LQS that I love! Much nicer than the previous store owner. I love that the owner spends time with me discussing projects and shares ideas with me. Congrats on your first sponsor! I will check them out. I need some low volumes for my upcoming My Small World quilt!!
