Sponsor Introduction {& Giveaway}: Fiddlehead Artisan Supply

I’m thrilled to introduce you to my very first sponsor, my local quilt shop located in Belfast, Maine–Fiddlehead Artisan Supply. Fiddlehead Artisan Supply is a family-owned sewing, quilting, and craft-supply shop in beautiful midcoast Maine. In addition to a great selection of modern quilting cottons, patterns, thread, and notions, Fiddlehead offers a wide range of other craft supplies all within one of the most aesthetically pleasing shops I’ve visited. It’s a haven for makers. Just for my readers, Fiddlehead is offering 15% off anything in their online shop with the code nightquilter15%.

To kick-off our partnership, Abby at Fiddlehead invited me to curate a bundle of low volume fabrics, AND is offering a bundle as a giveaway to one of my readers. I love low volume fabrics, since they are so versatile in quilting and just about anything. There’s nothing like a scrappy low volume background to help colors pop.

This bundle of eight (8) fat quarters includes (clockwise from top):

– XOXO Cotton + Steel basics by Rashida Coleman Hale
– Dotti’s Cousin in Natural, Mochi by Rashida Coleman Hale for Cotton + Steel
– Prisma in Honeycomb, Minimalista by Art Gallery Fabrics
– Hello Bear by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics
– Cotton + Steel basics by Alexia Marcelle Abegg
– Passport Parchment Paris Map by 3 Sisters for Moda
– Music in Neutral by Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements
– Passport Charcoal Etchings by 3 Sisters for Moda

Just for fun, and since I have a baby shower to attend this weekend, I decided to whip up a quick project using this bundle. I made a one hour basket (free pattern by Kelby Sews) using the fabrics from this bundle and some scraps of Alison Glass’s Sun Prints Grove.

I love these low volumes!

The recipient of this basket hasn’t found out the gender of her baby, so I thought the sleek low volumes and pops of color were the perfect combination.

  1. My LQS has a great range of fabrics. What I like is that they don’t cluster fabric lines together – rather they group fabrics by colour. That way, I find some amazing coordinating fabrics that I might not have stumbled across on my own.

  3. I am very fortunate to have three lqs near me. Each one is different. The Modern Bee is full of all these Modern fabrics I am seeing as I peek out from my comfort box! Kindered Spirits is a shop that has a nice mix of Batiks children’s and Modas. The Quilting Bee is found in a beautiful Log Cabin and has been featured as a Top 10 Quilt Shops to visit. Kelly the owner is an amazing long arm artist and dealer. She carries Laundry Basket, Modas and Cival war to name a few. The best part about these shops is their talented staff. So I am one lucky Quilter!

  4. I have two LQS in my hometown. One features bright fabrics, the other carrying more subtle designs. You can always find the thing you need in one of the two LQS; that’s what I like about them.

  6. Congratulations on your first sponsor! How cool is that! The thing I like about my favorite lqs is that they are always friendly and ready to help me find just the right fabric. They’ll even search in the back if we can’t find something that is out on the shelves. They are just super nice people.

  11. Unfortunately, I don’t have a local quilt shop; but I was in Washington Maine in October and visited a lovely little quilt shop in a nearby town on Rte 3 on the way to Belfast. It was for sale along with the house next door. I finished my 1 hour basket last weekend and thought it would make a great baby room basket! I’ve signed up for the New Bloggers Hop, hope to be in touch with you there. We’ll be going back to Maine again this October, maybe we can meet up 🙂 Congrats on your sponsor!

  13. I’m lucky enough to have 2 local quilt shops! Although with limited selection and still catering for the much older quilters, they are slowly but surely getting more modern fabric in stock. I love that I can go there with an idea in my head or paper, if they are lucky, and that they help me to put it together.
