I’m thrilled to introduce you to my very first sponsor, my local quilt shop located in Belfast, Maine–Fiddlehead Artisan Supply. Fiddlehead Artisan Supply is a family-owned sewing, quilting, and craft-supply shop in beautiful midcoast Maine. In addition to a great selection of modern quilting cottons, patterns, thread, and notions, Fiddlehead offers a wide range of other craft supplies all within one of the most aesthetically pleasing shops I’ve visited. It’s a haven for makers. Just for my readers, Fiddlehead is offering 15% off anything in their online shop with the code nightquilter15%.
To kick-off our partnership, Abby at Fiddlehead invited me to curate a bundle of low volume fabrics, AND is offering a bundle as a giveaway to one of my readers. I love low volume fabrics, since they are so versatile in quilting and just about anything. There’s nothing like a scrappy low volume background to help colors pop.
This bundle of eight (8) fat quarters includes (clockwise from top):
– Music in Neutral by Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements
Just for fun, and since I have a baby shower to attend this weekend, I decided to whip up a quick project using this bundle. I made a one hour basket (free pattern by Kelby Sews) using the fabrics from this bundle and some scraps of Alison Glass’s Sun Prints Grove.

The recipient of this basket hasn’t found out the gender of her baby, so I thought the sleek low volumes and pops of color were the perfect combination.
The basket is the perfect size to hold diapers and wipes, or just about any other newborn essentials.
To enter the giveaway today, simply share what you love about your local quilt shop. If you don’t have a local quilt shop that fits your style, tell me what you look for in a fabric shop. Leave a comment and make sure I’m able to get ahold of you if you win. If you’re a follower of Night Quilter, leave a second comment telling me how you follow for a second entry. Like Fiddlehead Artisan Supply on Facebook or subscribe to their newsletter and tell me how you followed them for a third entry.
This giveaway is open to US and international participants. The giveaway will be open until 8pm Wednesday 5/27 when I’ll select the winner randomly with random.org. Good luck! Note: This giveaway is now closed! Congratulations to Mary!
If you just can’t wait to get your hands on this low volume bundle, it can be purchased HERE. And, if you’re like me and like to support family run small businesses, feel free to take a virtual vacation to midcoast Maine and visit Fiddlehead Artisan Supply’s online shop: Fiddlehead is offering 15% off for all of my readers through June 21st–use code nightquilter15%. Of course a vacation in person is preferred–if you do that, let me know and I’ll meet you for coffee and fabric shopping in Belfast!
I’m linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday, since I’ve got this adorable one hour basket finish ready for the baby shower this weekend. Many thanks to Fiddlehead Artisan Supply!

I love many things about my local shops… The friendly, helpful staff tops the list though!

I love quilt shops that have a good mix of current fabrics as well as a well-curated section of basics. Threads, notions, Bernina accessories and magazines help to round it out! Thanks for the chance to win!

I’v signed up for their newsletter. I like to support (buy stuff) from those shops that support my go-to bloggers. The bundle looks great–I wouldn’t have thought of the pale yellow but it adds a lot.

Beautifully curated bundle, Kitty.
I shop in different places for different things. If I am just stash building, I go to one local shop as the prices are good and I pick through their selection for the few I like. If I am finishing a project and want the perfect fabric for the back/binding/border, I go to a different shop where the prices are higher but the range and service is better. The staff offer colour suggestions there, and they have classes and notions.

I love the support and encouragement that bubbles over from the staff at Quiltessentials, and am eager to visit Fiddleheads when we’re in Belfast for the Celtic Festival in July (my daughters’ harp ensemble is performing) – if not sooner….

I like local quilts shops for the personal touch and interaction with the shop owner. Outside of guilds, quilts are a gathering place for inspiration and education.

We have several quilt shops here in Omaha and each has something different to offer; batiks, civil war, country, brights, EPP, classes, notions, and gifts. I am so blessed to live here. Lovely fabrics in your bundle.

I don’t have quilt shops near me. I do like seeing all of fabrics at reasonable prices and a sales section. Quilts on display. Seasonal displays are fun to check out. Friendly helpful staff.

My local quilt shop is brand new, the girls are still finding their feet as they come from a more ‘crafty’ rather than quilty background but they are so enthusiastic AND they asked me to teach some classes so its just perfect and almost on the doorstep!

I don’t have a local quilt shop & buy fabric online. I like online shops that carry a good range of fabric lines with great photos & streamlined, easy to use website. Great service & good shopping experiences make me a return shopper. Thanks for the awesome giveaway & for the intro to Fiddlehead Artisan Supply.

What I would love in a quilt shop is lots of colorful “modern” fabrics and patterns. My local quilt shop only has these in the kids fabric section and I feel odd going in there because I never see any other young people. I just recently discovered http://www.bloomeriefabrics.com and it is definitely everything I would want in a fabric shop. Fiddlehead looks promising as well.

Fiddlehead is My local shop, too. They have such a wonderful range of fabrics and I love how they organize collections and colors to make things easy to find! I love looking at the beautiful clothing displayed throughout the store. And most of all, I really appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff is, while still letting you wander around uninterrupted–and I don’t dare guess how many hours I’ve done that!

There aren’t many quilt shops near me (or least I haven’t found them yet) but I love Momen+ bc it has a great selection of high end fabrics and a wide range of material from basic cotton to double guaze to thick heavy weight style cottons.

Unfortunately, I do not have a local quilt shop to fit my needs, but besides fabric I like a shop with lots of notions. Things I may not have heard of or run across anywhere else. And the most important thing in a quilt shop for me is the friendly service!! Can you believe I’ve been to multiple quilt shops where the employees were actually rude?
